Anne Elizabeth Anderson, 93, of Grants Pass died Saturday, June 10, 2008, at an adult foster care home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Williams Highway. Anderson was born June 14, 1914, in San Francisco to Matthew and Anna Skalko. After three years of high school, she graduated from Fremont High School as valedictorian at age 16. She attended San Jose State College and studied elementary education with her minor in music. On Sept. 30, 1933, she married Horace A. Anderson, who died in 1988. They lived in Baltimore for six years before returning to California. When her eldest son was 15, she returned to San Jose State College to complete her education and she earned her master's degree in elementary education. She taught the third and fifth grades. In 1957, she was dedicated and baptized as a Jehovah's Witness and began a new career teaching others about the Bible. In 1965, she and her husband moved to Grants Pass. For 43 years, she was a member of the South Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed playing the piano, tutoring her grandchildren, reading and watching tennis, which she played in college. Survivors include a son, Horace M. Anderson of Grants Pass; a daughter, Elaine M. Eden of Grants Pass; three grandchildren and four great-grandsons. A son, Richard, died before her.
